Course Description: This course examines the primary issues in the history of photography from the medium's invention in the 1830s through the emergence of Postmodernism in the 1970s, with particular attention to the dynamic interaction between technological innovation and aesthetic development. Through illustrated lectures, critical readings, class presentations, and discussions, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the formative history of photography and its place within broader social, cultural, and theoretical contexts.…
