Wound care nurses specialize in the proper management of wound care by treating and monitoring wounds that are the result of disease, injury, or medical treatments. The job requires that a wound care nurse provides care that will optimally and safely heal various types of wounds, including but not limiting surgical openings, ulcers, decubitus ulcers, feeding tube sites, and abscesses.
