Starting pay: 58.49/hour General Job Description (General description of responsibilities) A Machinist operates equipment such as milling machines, revolving lathes, and drill presses to produce parts and tools for the industry. They must have a thorough knowledge of many kinds of machine tools, including the use of computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines. The Machinist must have the ability to review blueprints and specifications, and know the sequence of steps to follow in producing the part or tool. A machinist should have the ability to perform any mechanical task assigned, such as those tasks assigned to a Journeyman Mechanic.
