General Description The purpose of this class is to investigate and solve assigned criminal cases and identify and apprehend offenders. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Responds to crime scenes; receives an initial report from the Deputy Sheriff on patrol; examines the scene of the crime to obtain clues and gather evidence; serves as custodian of evidence.
